This is an anti Ukraine travel guide. Supposedly only 4 yrs old, but probably written much longer ago. The book strongly discourages travel in the Ukraine. Not worthy of the Lonely Planet series.ask me again in July after my trip. Perhaps then I will agree with them, but I doubt it.

This was an excellent collection of information about a part of the world that is not well known in the west. I would firmly recommend this.

There are too many areas of the country that are inadequately covered. It really isn't much of a guide book at all. After visiting the western part of the country, I found that there was either very limited mention of most of the sites we visited (and wanted more information on) or none at all. The maps are totally inadequate. The bit of Ukrainian language was helpful, though, for very few people speak English, except at the better hotels. I was disappointed in the book and wish I would have chosen something else.

It had the necessary information for our travels. Gave good descriptions of the highlights of various regions in the country. Good travel tips. Did not use for lodging.

My teacher daughter loves it and used it to travel to Ukraine.

This is almost certainly the most complete guide to American weapons currently available, and the price is unbeatable. But it is not perfect, because it contains no index or detailed contents, how weird!

This could be good or bad, depending on how you look at it.Just thought I'd mention it.

I have read numerous books on modern weaponry and modern warfare, but this one still managed to provide plenty of information to fill my knowledge gaps. It is a very comprehensive compilation of american weapons, from ballistic missiles to pistols, from supersonic jet fighters to humvees. This wonderful illustrated directory should give you plenty of "munitions" to talk like a weapons expert!

This book is a huge disappointment. Bought it based on other reviews and recos from trading forums. To start with, the author's writing style is so 1950s that it hurts. The charts (what few ones there are) have handwritten notes. Most of the trading advice consists of trading 101 cliches such as "let your winners run and cut your losses short". To be fair, when this was written, trading commodities was not a widely undertaken endeavour by non-professional traders so perhaps that can be forgiven.A glaring error repeated throughout the book occurs when the author suggests that by earning 30% per month, which presumably his book will help you do (hah!), it is possible to earn 360% per year. Perhaps compound interest (along with electricity and the automobile) had not yet been discovered as of the publication date, but a 30% return each month compounds to an annual return of 2,330%...! Such innumeracy is quite frankly astounding for the author of a book on finance. The very best hedge fund managers, who manage billions in investor capital, are lucky to return 30% per year. This guy is a joke.The author repeats again and again that the best way to invest is in a "special situation" which may only occur once a month. Besides never bothering to explain exactly what this "special situation" is, despite constantly alluding to them, he also never tells you how to find one.Bottom line, terrible book, terrible writing style. Don't be a sucker, if the title sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

As I always want to apply the rule "keep it simple stupid" for my trading, this book is the best I ever read and this is really, simply, and practically help me making my trading decision and building my trading system. I now start making money using this techniques and follow his rules, I get more and more confident in trading.. But I dont know for those who wants complexities.I adore this book and personally offer highly respect and thanks toMr R C Allen for his genuine and valuable contribution to trading.

It provides all the necessary information to start trading. It is totally unnecessary in knowing all the complicated theories that are out there in other books that take up hundreds of pages to explain, simply to prove that the prices either go up or down. Not everyone can be a trader but this book provides all, if you are the right person.

Insightful. Terribly insightful. Not an easy reading. Deep, revealing, an eye opener. It's something between psychology and philosophy, a serious, sound, fascinating reading. Depending on your inner ego, depending on how much close to death and horror you have been, this is one of the best books I have ever read.David

This is by far one of my favorite texts. The abject touches everything in our lives and Kristeva poetically engages with the third position beautifully. A must read for feminists, art students, and anyone into psychoanalysis or disgust.

This is a superb illumination into the depth of the human condition.

A must for any Gender Studies and/or Psychology scholar. It is leaden in density and academic rigor but very illuminating.

Not linear writing. Difficult book to read. Interesting book.

Although this work is complex and at times dense (possibly because it has been translated from the original French) Kristeva has some profound insights into the psyche and the abject. She draws heavily on Freudian Psychology, which I don't always agree with, but equally there were many 'aha' moments for me. Important work.

This is a complex book that required me to move through it slowly. I now understand why it is a foundational text. At times, I found myself pondering where there was abjection in myself and the people I know.

Don't be abjected even further than you already are, read this book and allow Kristeva's language to take you on a hallucinatory journey to the limits of symbolization. The act of reading this book can be, at times, an excersize in facing/coping with abjection. If you're patient, go slow, and finally understand thirty percent of this book, you'll be leagues ahead of most intellectuals out there.

About the Author

David Chandler has taught astronomy, physics, and mathematics at the high school and college levels since the early 1970's. He has a BS in Physics from Harvey Mudd College, an MA in Education from Claremont Graduate School, and an MS in Mathematics from California Polytechnic University. He has published a number of charts and books designed to help beginners become successful in observational astronomy. Billie Chandler became interested in astronomy when her children were given a telescope by a relative. She subscribed to astronomy periodicals, took an astronomy course at a local college, and started looking into what could be seen with amateur-sized equipment. About the time of Halley's Comet (1985-86) she bought a 10" Dobsonian telescope and started observing regularly, first with the Idyll Gazers in Idyllwild CA, then with the Pomona Valley Amateur Astronomers. She is one of the first women in the United States to earn the Herschel award from the Astronomical League. She has sketched hundreds of astronomical objects at the eyepiece. Most of the descriptions in Sky Atlas for Small Telescopes and Binoculars are based on her observing notes. She currently operates David Chandler Company, which publishes astronomy software, and astronomy-related charts and literature.

Most observing guides just tell you where to find certain objects such as Messier and NGC objects, double stars, etc. Most of them by experienced observers using high end Televues or Asto-Physics or Takahashi 'scopes under ink-dark skies. Way too many objects are just not realistic for most of us. Sure, they're where the book tells you they are but you have to just take their word for it.The virtue of this little book is that it focuses exclusively on what ordinary observers with ordinary telescopes or binoculars observing in ordinary settings under ordinary skies can actually SEE with their modest instruments under a less-than-actually-dark dome. In other words, real world observing targets for real world people.You could actually concoct a fairly extensive observing program based on this book alone. I like it, and have found it a most useful celestial trail guide.The only negative, and it's strictly a tertiary one, is that it's only 17 pages, hence a bit pricey in terms of cost-per-page. Hence, a 1-star deduction.But, so what? It does the job, and does it well.

Divides up the sky into north circumpolar, south circumpolar, and six swatches, the same as Norton's, which I favor as an occasional binocular observer, since it is so easy to find the map you need. (Compare 80 maps in Sinnott's Pocket Sky Atlas.) Maps are on the right page with a selection of concise data and descriptions for deep-sky objects facing on the left page. (The maps are half the size of Norton's two-pagers, therefore.)By itself, I doubt the brief introductory material supplies enough background for a beginner. However, I would highly recommend this light weight little book to a beginner with binoculars or a small telescope as a companion to something like Richard Berry's "Discover the Stars." Berry is the best thing I know of in print to recommend to someone who wants to learn the sky, but his maps are optimized for naked eye observing under good (but not necessarily outstanding) conditions. Chandler's atlas has fainter stars you will need to assist in "hopping" your way to a deep sky object.

This is a clear book and a fine guide to night sky. It has suitable deep sky objects for small telescopes and binoculars. At left pages you can read in a table the objects for each constellation, and at the right ones a map with them. A great companion for stargazing and a must-have book.

Very small number of pages.This atlas protects beginners from flood of too much information.

Great little book. It's very sparse, so it's really for the astronomer who has figured out her or his telescope, and is now ready to start bagging objects and figuring out more of the night sky. Perfect for astronomy parties or just filling out your Messier object list while using your scope in the back yard.

Well done A useful guide to the sky.

I understand there is an ap for the I phone where you can point it up to the heavens and it will take a picture and identify all the constellations. That is more my speed. This is encyclopedic and very technical. Appeals to the engineers out there, not just garden variety stargazers like myself.

It is a long book but it is so skilfully written that the reader looks forward to the next page! It is broken up with little stories, poems, arguments and anecdotes from famous names and not so famous names all in different stages of wooing a boy.It is interesting to read about Socrates, Plato and poems from ordinary men trying to woo their love interest. Some successfully..other poems show the anger with the boy or the loss of his love.There are wonderful arguments and debates regardinge the erastes/eromenus relationship. There are anecdotes about cross-dressers, lesbians, male prostitutes, lesbians (not so much) and spurned lovers. There are lessons on how to be successful courting a boy...what to look for and what to expect. Only families of the wealthy allowed their boys to be courted.There were many rules of courtship and in this world the boys' virtue is protected by the father until he approves of the suitor..or the boy accepts.The descriptions of where men can meet boys: the gymnasia, the baths, and sleeping outside a potential lovers door!The poetry is some of the most beautiful I have ever read.So much information but easy to digest. So much was uncovered (excuse the pun)It was wonderful to read actual notes and speeches from Socrates,Plato and others. It provided a vivid snapshot of male love in Ancient times.
