This is the third installment in Lorraine Heath's Texas Trilogy. This book tells the story of the youngest Leigh brother, Austin. Austin has spent five years in prison for a crime he didn't commit. He has come home to find the person who really committed the crime he paid for. He also comes home to find that the girl he left behind has married his best friend. He's distraught and frustrate, angry and determined to clear his name. There are more than a few surprises in this excellent story. It's storytelling at its best, and it contains love, hope, heartbreak, and since it's a romance, redemption is found through that love.

This is the third and final book in the Texas trilogy, and in my opinion, the weakest of the three, but you have to read it anyway to see how Austin's story turns out. At the end of Texas Glory, Austin had just been sentenced to five years for a murder he didn't commit. He had an alibi, because he was with his sweetheart Becky Oliver, but he wouldn't say so because of the damage to her reputation. (Uh huh, because it's totally better to for her reputation to see her boyfriend go to jail for five years, then marry him and start a family under the specter of his murder conviction, than it would have been to fess up, exonerate him, and repair the damage to her reputation by getting married right off, but no one seems to think of that.)Anyway, Austin serves his time and comes home only to find out the fickle Becky has married his best friend. (That's gotta sting.) Reeling from this betrayal and belatedly concerned with clearing his name, Austin heads for Austin (the town) to search for the real killer...and is successful in a way that is utterly absurd. (I knew early on how that mystery would turn out, but hoped I was wrong; when it was revealed as I'd predicted, I groaned out loud at the sheer ridiculousness of it.)On the way to Austin, Austin meets Loree, a solitary girl with a tormented soul to match his own. One thing leads to another, they end up 'having to' marry, and only afterwards do they learn how to trust and love each other. That part of the story is unexceptional (except for the aforementioned ridiculousness) and kind of slogging. The epilogue, in which Austin picks up his violin for the first time in six years and is a musical prodigy all of a sudden, challenges credulity, but that's a minor quibble compared to the other baloney the plot requires you to swallow.In the end, the series is pretty great, but this is a silly way to end it.

I loved this book series and have read each book at least twice. Austin and Loree's story is poignant and sweet. Even with knowing the story line beginning to end didn't take away from the twists and surprises in the book. The author's attention to the details of the characters and time period then compliment in the dynamic emotions that she paints so rich. What a treat to read books that span the family original family of three brothers to the conclusion of this book. The extremes of goodness and evil, fear turning to trust and the realisation of dreams unfolds in each book quite according to the uniqueness of each character. The author also reveals the history of most characters which adds to the believability of the book from it's first pages. I especially enjoy one book building on the other in the series. In spite of that, a reader can jump in with any book and enjoy it as a stand alone novel. I'd encourage anyone to saddle up and enjoy ride with the Leigh family.

Like Texas Glory I have good and bad things to say about this book. I was going to write this after reading the second book but decided to put it in the review of the book on Austin. I find the whole reason he went to jail stupid. She could have found another wait to make it work. He was with Becky the night Boyd died but wouldn't say anything about it because he didn't want her reputation to suffer. All they had to do was say they were together because she agreed to marry him and then get married. Or as I stated before, find another story like he was too drunk and passed out somewhere and had no witnesses, or something that made more sense. I like the story but agree it was not as good as the others. Texas Destiny was the best of the books. I like Austin and Loree both. I did figure out a third of the way into the book, who killed Boyd. It was pretty easy to determine. The ending was not quite how I thought it would go after reading a someone's review, but I was mostly correct. There's of course the heartache towards the end, like she had in the other 2 books which helps make the story a little better. I think the whole book would have been better had she taken it down a different path. However all in all still a good read.

I absolutely loved this trilogy! Dallas was my favourite brother but Austin wasn't too far behind.This book begins with Austin getting out of jail 5 years after he was found guilty for killing Boyd McQueen. He goes home to find that it isn't quite like home. All the people whisper that he is a murderer and the girl he thought he loved is married to his best friend.When he feels like he has nothing else he sets out for Austin hoping that it will help him find the man who really killed Boyd McQueen. On his travels he comes across Loree living alone in the middle of nowhere and she helps nurse him back to health and they help ease some of the loneliness they suffer.When Loree ends up pregnant Austin decides to marry her and bring her home to the town of Leigh. I felt like the romance in this book was a little forced and moved to quickly. But once some time had passed I felt like Austin and Loree were really getting to know one another.A large secret that looms over Loree comes out in this book and I have to say it threw me for a loop!The epilogue was amazing! I had a few tears... I wish I could read more about this family!
