I have carved most of the Cowboys in Taylor's book. I love his patterns and wish there were more. His designs and patterns are Taylor made (excuse the pun) for carvers of all types. I use standard carving knives and work also with power tools, especially for the initial rough outs. His patterns are easy to follow and just plain fun. The shelves in our home are alive with cowboys usually interacting witn one another. Usually I don't carve them with the interaction in mind, they just fit that way. If you haven't tried Taylor, I highly recommend his books. I have to write that because I don't knowhim personally.

Very nice book. Lots of inspiration and demonstration. Not for the beginner. Should have a little experience at simpler stuff first. Good stuff.

Just getting started in woodcarving at the age of 77 but I live on a ranch and my heroes have always been cowboys and I look forward to carving caricatures of them.
